NYC parent events

Go where the grown-ups talk too

A short weekly list for NYC parents of little kids. Every pick has one thing in common: the parents end up talking to each other, not just watching from the edge. Many repeat, so the faces start to look familiar. Details are checked before they land here, and every event links its source.

Updated August 8, 2026 · new edition weekly

First edition. Small on purpose: the main list only carries events whose details checked out, and everything else waits in worth watching until it does.

Astoria Dads' Night Out

Heart of Gold, 37-14 31st AveNo ticket, pay your own way

A no-program bar night framed for dads. Coming solo is normal here; the whole point is that the grown-ups talk.

The same host runs a dads' book club later this month, so this crowd tends to reappear.

6:30pm to 9:30pmWilliamsburg, Brooklyn

Mahjong & Mingle, round two

La Nonna Ristorante & BarTicketed

Round one sold out. Moms, dads and expecting parents are all welcome, and the host says come solo, most people do. A game table does the icebreaking for you.

Round two of a series, and repeat rounds mean repeat faces.

Little Makers Studio free Fall Open House

Little Makers Studio, 255 Flatbush AveFree drop-in, RSVP via their page

An open-house format where parents linger while kids make things, which is where the side-by-side conversations happen. Fair warning: it exists to sell fall enrollment, but the lingering is real.

Repeats: more dates Sep 8 and 9

TuesdaySeptember 15

8:00pmManhattan Valley, Manhattan

PS 165 PTA parents night at Lion's Head Tavern

Lion's Head Tavern, 995 Amsterdam Ave at W 109thNo ticket, and the bar donates $2 a drink to the PTA

A PTA-run parents night out at a public neighborhood bar. Their own invite says bring friends or partners, the more the merrier, and it does not gate on being a PS 165 family.

Repeats: monthly Tuesdays: Sep 15, Oct 13, Nov 10

Monthly through the fall, which is exactly how faces get familiar.

Nura is for the next part: turning one family you keep running into at things like these into a real backup plan for school pickup, camp gaps, and the hour between. Nothing sends without you.
